 AMERICA

 The Trump

 Presidency

 THE BASICS

  • Donald Trump is currently our 45th President of the United States. Before being elected President, he was better known as a wealthy businessman and television personality.

  • Donald Trump ran as a Republican, and his major opponent in the 2016 election was Democrat Hillary Clinton.

  • He was preceded by Barack Obama. His Vice President is Mike Pence, originally the Governor of Indiana.

 THE ELECTION

  • Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton shocked many Americans: he is now the oldest and wealthiest person ever to assume the presidency, the first without prior military or government service, and the fifth to have won the election while losing the popular vote.

  • His political positions were considered to be populist, protectionist, and nationalist. His campaign received extensive free media coverage; many of his public statements were controversial or false.

  • He is currently in his second year of the presidency.

 THE PRESIDENCY: 2016

  • During his first week in office, Trump signed six executive orders: interim procedures in anticipation of repealing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, reinstatement of the Mexico City Policy, unlocking the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipeline construction projects, reinforcing border security and beginning the planning and design process to construct a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.

  • He also made a statement committing to appointing justices that would ideally undo the ruling of Roe v. Wade.

 THE PRESIDENCY: 2017

  • Donald Trump's campaign was partially successful due to his strong intolerance for illegal immigrants and terrorists. Unfortunately, this intolerance has spread throughout the country and has caused many Americans to act with hate in their hearts when it comes to these people.

  • Donald Trump moved to repeal DACA, which would stop the children of illegal immigrants from being able to receive an American education. He also has promised to build a wall to "keep those Mexicans out."

  • He also placed a travel ban in early 2017, keeping visitors from "countries with a proven history of terrorism" out of the United States. This ban took place almost immediately, causing chaos and confusion amongst travelers and Americans alike.

 THE PRESIDENCY: 2018

  • Donald Trump's biggest controversy so far this year has been the separation of children from their parents at the border. Although Trump has now signed an Executive Order that will keep families from being separated, the Trump Administration isn't entirely sure if it's still prosecuting illegal immigrants or not. The news on this issue is coming in by the minute, and we will post as many updates as we can on this page.

 DONALD TRUMP &   AMERICAN IDIOT

  • American Idiot was arguably written about U.S. President George W. Bush, but there has been a recent resurgence of the album due to the actions of our 45th U.S. President, Donald Trump.

  • Many of the lyrics within the songs can be related back to either President, oddly enough.

  • As mentioned on the Green Day page, Green Day does not in any way support Trump and his behavior. They even led an anti-Trump chant in the middle of a performance prior to his election.

  • Before President Trump visited the U.K. this summer, citizens of the U.K. worked towards getting American Idiot to the top of the charts just in time for his visit. The British government even allowed a giant balloon in the image of a baby Donald Trump to fly in mockery.

  • What seals Donald's fate as the next American Idiot, however, is his addiction to Twitter. His tweets prove that he is part of the media machine and although he may be trying to use it to gain followers and to receive empathy, it is also a constant source of false facts and immature statements.
